Cutting through the dark It's a beam of light Casting moving pictures on the wall In the night ~chorus~ Jack hears the clickety-clack 'cause he's sitting in the back By the projector Watching Super 8 movies that he made He bought a little store in this town of ten thou But there's not much demand for Super 8 projectors and cameras now So he sells them through the Net all over the Earth And he doesn't care what Alpine, TX thinks they're worth ~chorus~ Jack hears the clickety-clack 'cause he's sitting in the back By the projector Watching Super 8 movies that he made On the weekends he shows his movies there in the store Not many come by, they don't know what they're good for He's got the self-service coffee, thrift store couches and the folding chairs But there's never more than a handful of people there ~chorus~ Jack hears the clickety-clack 'cause he's sitting in the back By the projector Watching Super 8 movies that he made It's not the latest thing. It's not popular at all It's not a slick Hollywood show. It's not a shopping mall But those capitalist jerks can't keep Jack from his work or his sleep ~chorus~ Jack hears the clickety-clack 'cause he's sitting in the back By the projector Watching Super 8 movies that he made

Sam and Gene are students at Sul Ross University And the highlight of the week is a Friday night Every Friday night, Sam and Gene head out to the local movie show At Jack's Super 8 store Yeah they go (6x) They go to the local movie show Not a corporate cineplex It's not digital It's just Super 8 Every Friday night Super 8 filmmakers from all over the world they mail copies of their movies to screening rooms like Jack's Yes they do Yeah they go Sam and Gene Yeah they go Yeah they go They go to the local movie show ~ John Trudell documentary movie We cannot out fight them There may be times to fight but we cannot out fight them because they invented that kind of death We can out think them and we can out live them but every provocation through history since they invented that kind of death every provocation has been to get us at some point to try to out fight them So to me, it's like, no The reality is we've got to outthink them And if we look at some of the little things about it We're surrounded in a reality where you have to get permission to think That's called chain of command See, so if you really, really think about it the guerrilla warrior of the future is going to be the one that thinks because in their legions you know they don't have permission to think See, only a few get to think See this starts to equalize out the numbers alright? Documentary, Pixellation Non-narrative and the narrative too No it's not about nostalgia It's not a lo-fi or retro fetish It's just a different format A real world kind of thing And they go Yeah they go Well they go Yeah they go Yes they go Yes I know Yes I know they go to the local movie show They go to the local move show ~ John Trudell documentary... We will influence the evolution If we use our intelligence as clearly and coherently as we can as often as we can The the evolutionary future will be more clear and coherent for us

Sam's Song 05:56
Broken into pieces Scattered all around I been broken into pieces Scattered on the ground Lost without my own plan But I won't let myself be found I know I've got a reason A reason to be here I know I've got my own reason Reason to be here I can feel it deep inside me What it is ain't exactly clear So I'll just keep on walking Up and down this road I'll just keep on walking Up and down this road What it will be eventually When it comes to me I'm sure I'll know I been hiding in the playground I been hiding in the school I been hiding on the job I been acting like their fool I know I've got my own mind And I don't have to play by their rules I been broken into pieces Scattered all around Broken into pieces Scattered on the ground

Jack is a North American refugee of the spirit from Berkeley, CA Maybe you still think of it as a bastion of free thinking and imagination, incubator of vanguard political and creative movements as it was a few decades ago It's no longer that way here, there, or anywhere in the USA Wipe that residual impression from your mind It's all the belly of the beast now Spirits eaten to feed the monster Minds so stuffed full of fear they can not think coherently, clearly Jack bought this little store in Alpine, in Big Bend He's learning to thrive in the cracks Anyway, Jack likes it better here He's getting away with being a small scale obscure filmmaker without engaging much in the spirit-killing competition for crumbs back in blood sucker central back in zombie central
